Krakow is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Poland, an important cultural and educational center, highly popular among tourists who come here in great numbers. The city used to be the seat of Kings and capital of Poland in 1038- 1609. University tradition in Krakow dates back to the end of the 14th century. There are 24 institutions of higher education in Krakow (including 11 state owned) educating about 174 thousand students. The city boasts the unique monuments and buildings including the largest medieval main square. In 1978 the Old Town of Krakow together with Kazimierz Quarter was included on the UNESCO First World Heritage List. Krakow has an international airport offering convenient connection with cities all over Europe.
